WETHERSPOON pubs are known for their cheap and cheerful grub, but one punter has shared a hack to get one of the more popular menu items for even less.

The foodie explained that a friendly stranger shared the hack as they both dined at one of the pub’s many locations.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the man, who goes by AnErrorofComedy online, revealed the little-known menu secret – and it’s blowing people’s minds.

Although he didn’t specify which Wetherspoon location they were at, the food fan said the punter had managed to order one of the chain’s most popular burgers for less using a sneaky trick.

He shared a snap of the man enjoying his bargain grub and wrote: “This man has just told me his secret.

“Ordering the halloumi burger with chicken is £1 cheaper than the chicken burger with halloumi at Wetherspoons.”

The revelation soon went viral, and the post currently has over 3.1 million likes.

There is a slight catch though, the price of menu items can vary across different Wetherspoon locations, meaning it might not work out cheaper for everyone.

Depending on which pub you go to, a friend buttermilk chicken burger will usually cost £4.99 and comes with a soft drink.

Adding halloumi onto the burger will cost you £2.15 extra, bringing to total to £7.14.

However, a Fried halloumi-style cheese burger costs £8.06, and adding a friend milk butter patty will cost you £1.45. That’s £9.51 altogether.

This means that you could save yourself £2.37 by ordering the halloumi burger and adding the chicken separately rather than adding the squeaky cheese to your normal chicken burger.

The price for both meals will also go up if you order an alcoholic drink rather than a soft one.

On the topic of varying prices, Wetherspoon’s website says: “We have tried to keep the prices on many of our best-selling items fairly consistent, yet there are variations.”

They add: “Another factor which can have an influence is the amount of rent and rates payable, particularly in high-profile locations, such as central London.”

Other social media users loved the hack and praised the foodie for sharing it.

One wrote: “That’s the kinda advice Martin Lewis needs to be giving. Real money saving tips.”

A second raved: “These are the kind of people we all need in life.”

And a third quipped: “It’s the little wins!”
