K-pop girl group Le Sserafim is hitting high notes with its first English single, “Perfect Night.”
“Perfect Night” clinched the No. 1 spot on MBC’s “Show! Music Core,” Saturday, more than a month after its release on Oct. 27. This is the first time that the tune has ranked first on a Korean music show.
“We are glad and thankful to see a lot of people loving this song for more than a month,” Le Sserafim said through its management company, Source Music, Sunday. “We hope they can enjoy the end of the year to the fullest with our music.”
“Perfect Night” has been going strong on domestic music streaming charts as well. As of Saturday, it has topped the daily chart of Melon, a major streaming platform here, for 20 days in a row.
It has also been dominating Melon’s weekly chart for two consecutive weeks as of Dec. 3. This is the first time that a female K-pop artist’s English song has pulled off the feat on this chart, according to Source Music.
“It is more challenging for an English track to perform well on a (local) streaming chart, but ‘Perfect Night’ has still managed to set a new record,” the company said in a statement.
“Perfect Night” is a two-step garage tune about joy people can feel when they are surrounded by good friends. Member Huh Yun-jin took part in writing its lyrics.
