Federal charges were filed today against two DuBois City Employees for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The Department of Justice indicted Former City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio and City of DuBois Employee Roberta “Bobbie” Shaffer today and charged them with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in city funds. According to the indictment from 2014 to 2022 Suplizio and Shaffer conspired to steal from the city. Allegedly the duo used the city’s tax id number to establish secret bank accounts where they diverted city money including $60,000 annually from the contract with Waste Management which was previously Advanced Disposal. The money was allegedly used for vacations, shopping, personal expenses and cashier’s checks written to themselves. If proven guilty the crime carries a possible 45-year sentence and over a million in fines.
