Breaking News: 15 MPs, Including 9 Congress MPs, Suspended For ‘Unruly Behaviour’ In Parliament

New Delhi: As many as 14 MPs from Lok Sabha and one member from Rajya Sabha were suspended on Thursday for their ‘unruly behavior’ in the Parliament. Among the suspended members, nine are from the grand old party, two each from CPM and DMK, and one from CPI. Manickam Tagore, Kanimozhi, PR Natrajan, V K Shrikantam, Beni Bahan, K Subramanyam, SR Pratiban, S Venkateshan, and Mohammed Javed are among the Parliament members who were suspended today. The number includes the five Congress MPs suspended yesterday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi moved a motion for the suspension of these MPs.

Earlier in the day, the lower house passed a resolution suspending as many as five MPs from the grand old party for the remainder of the Winter Session, which will conclude on December 22.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi proposed a resolution for the suspension of five MPs, namely T N Prathapan, Hibi Eden, Jothimani, Ramya Haridas, and Dean Kuriakose Kuryakus. Additionally, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien was suspended from Rajya Sabha for demanding a discussion on Wednesday’s security lapse.

During this incident, two individuals jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery, disrupting proceedings and releasing yellow smoke from canisters.

Joshi mentioned in the House that Speaker Om Birla has written a letter to the Home Secretary for a high-level probe into yesterday’s incident, in which two men intruded into the house amid the proceedings, and the probe has started.

He also gave references from the past such as people threw papers from the visitors gallery and such unfortunate incidents had occurred earlier too. He urged members of the Opposition not to “politicise” the sensitive issue.
